Not long ago, I visited a truly magical place: Hacienda Tultengo in the colonial town of Tepeapulco, Hidalgo, central Mexico. This historic and one-of-a-kind venue is owned by Don Alfonso Alvarado, my friend’s uncle, and a truly special human being.
The picturesque wedding venue and boutique hotel located at the foot of Xihuingo Mountain, promises to not only offer beautiful scenery for a destination wedding but also an in-depth local experience.
Don Alfonso personally cooks traditional food for his guests and offers authentic travel experiences for the brave at heart, that go from milking a cow, scraping maguey to make Pulque (Mexican alcoholic beverage) to taking sheep to pasture. Of course, this is only for those who wish to live a truly local experience. If this is not for you, you can always take a tour around the area to visit colonial homes, convents, and other natural attractions.
